“In my design, I attempted to go back to a more traditional golf course. I looked at the great courses around the world – Royal Melbourne, Troon, Turnberry – and worked out what is so good about them. One thing that springs to mind – bunkering. They are hazards and they work with the prevailing wind. Few holes are straight up and down the wind but tend to be across, which brings the bunkering into play. This is the kind of course where the best players would always come out on top”

Carton golf course is a magical place, full of beauty and wonderful history. My idea for the golf course was to make sure members and guests really have fun out there. It has to challenge golfers of all abilities and I think that is exactly what we achieved. I am thrilled with what we created”.

I have played Carlton House on 3 occasions and it is one of my favourite courses. It is a stunning course. While being extremely challenging it is also a very fair course for the higher handicapers.
The greens are magnificent, difficult but the majority of them accept a good shot in.
The staff in Carlton House are extremely professional, helpful and friendly and I would highly recommend dining there before or after your round.
It is also within easy reach of Dublin ( approx 15mins due south on the N7)or any of the othermajor routes .
